Donna Spivey plays guitar and sings lead and harmony vocals.

Her favorite bluegrass artist is Lester Flatt.

I grew up in gospel and bluegrass music. Being raised in church and singing in the choir my mom and dad both really loved music. My great grandfather on my dad's side of the family played the banjo, his name was Devone Ludlum. my dad played the guitar and the mandolin. we use to have pickings on Saturday night and friends would come and play and sing and i enjoyed it so much. Dad had a Gibson hummingbird. He told me if I would learn to play
rhythm he would buy me a martin guitar. It was not long before i was playing guitar and dad traded the Gibson and purchased a 1964 d-18 martin guitar which i still have today. After I was married my husband seem to have interest in the music also, and he bought me a 1990 hd-28 martin guitar. This is the guitar I am playing today.

Mom and dad did lots of singing in the choir at church and so did i and we never forgot about our gospel music and where our roots were. Mom passed away in 1994 but her memories and her love for music is with me today and has been an inspiration in my life.

I would like to thank my mom and dad for bringing me up in an home where god was first and family ties were strong. And the love for others in music and friendship were a part of our family.

I hope you will enjoy the music that I represent today and it will be a bond to bring us together as a big family of gospel and bluegrass music.

This year I will celebrate my 50th birthday and my daughter

 Wendy surprised me with this D-40 martin guitar. I was so

 excited words cannot explain how happy I was. This is a

 top of the line D-40. This is the last year the D-40 will be

 made by the Martin Co. so that makes this guitar a

 collector's item. Hope to see you at my shows and let you
